Balikbayan

Balikbayan (from the Filipino Tagalog words balik, to return, and bayan, town or nation) is a solo inspired by the migration experiences of Filipino women. It gives expression to the contradictions and conflicts of a troubled female character that does not belong anywhere, that encounters herself in a no man’s land. She finds herself as a hybrid entity that tries to survive in a new context. Forced to redefine heridentity, shetriestofififindherplace;searching for her roots, empowered by an innate and primitive command.
